Rescued Seal Pups
Jessie and Luke In early December 2013 Luke was joined by another rescued pup, Jessie, in the hospital´s weaning pool.

As you can see from the photo left, they are best of friends now following an initial disputes over fish.

Jake (release weight 38kgs) was released back into the wild on 27th January 2014 and Jessie (release weight 36kgs) on 11th February 2014. Both seemed to enjoy their new giant pool of water and after few glimpses at the boat they took off exploring. Click here to see photos of their release back to the wild.

Luke is waiting to be released but needs to be checked by the vet first.   Click here to see two photos of Luke in the outside seal enclosure taken on 14th February 2014.

Resident Seals
Lora, Macey and Pippa have done a brilliant job of looking after the rescued seal pups and teaching them how to compete for fish. Macey (left) and Lora (right)
Photo above is of Macey (left) and Lora (right).

As part of the enrichment programme, the animal care team try and come up with different ideas to keep the resident seals active.

During feeding time Lora, Macey and Pippa are kept on the go with balls and hoops. Click here to see a collage photos of the resident seals enjoying themselves during feeding time.

Resident Otters
Lewis and Isla, the River Otters, are missing you visitors during the winter months. Please visit them and show your support. Otters
Did you know that...The River Otters are more active during the day than our native European Otter.

The River Otters are found throughout Alaska, Canada and the northern United States, and are hence named the North American River Otter. They are slightly larger than our native European otter and are probably the most numerous Otter species in the wild. Hopefully, with a better understanding of Otters and the dangers facing them, we can all do our bit to help the plight of our own native Otters and their relatives around the world.
