Jessie was rescued on 11th November 2013

Sex : Female

Age : Approximately 4 weeks (at rescue)

Weight : 11.6kg (at rescue)

Found : This young female seal pup was found on a fairly busy public beach opposite Coasters Pub in Oban.
Jessie
The seal pup was lying in an area that is widely used by dog walkers and she was clearly very weak, so she had to be rescued and was taken to the seal hospital at Scottish SEA LIFE Sanctuary. She was also very skinny and not too concerned about the fact that people were walking around her which was a worrying sign. She had a few bite marks on her rear flippers which could have come from a curious dog. The pup has been named Jessie.

Update: 2nd December 2013 - Jessie is a fighter and so the staff hope she will make a full recovery. She has completed all the required treatments and is now sharing the hospital´s weaning pool with another rescued pup, Luke. This will teach them how to interact with other seals and how to compete for food. In the weaning pool they can also practice their swimming and diving skills before they can be moved into the outside pools with the resident seals. Jessie currently weighs 16kgs.
Luke and Jessie in the weaning pool Update: 12th December 2013 - Jessie and Luke sharing the hospital´s weaning pool and enjoy watching the visitors as they walk pass them.
Update: 12th February 2014 - Jessie (release weight 36kgs) was returned to the wild on 11th February 2014.

She seemed to enjoy her new giant pool of water and after few glimpses at the boat Jessie took off exploring.
