News Update May 2016
Seal Pups Update

This month saw the arrival of three more rescued seal pups, Sprout (photo below) on 15th May 2016 from Brancaster beach, Mario, first common seal pup of the season, came into the seal hospital on 26th May 2016 after being found alone and separated from his mum at the Old Hunstanton beach, and Zelda from Salthouse beach on 31st May 2016.
It´s important to remember, if you find a baby seal alone on the beach stand back and watch to see if mum is in the water. Sprout
If you can´t see mum or if the pup looks unwell please call the Sanctuary on 01485 533576 and Specialists will come out and assess it. Please do not try and put the seal back in the water, they need to rest on land, especially when they are very small.

It is also important to keep dogs and children away from the seals as they can have a nasty bite.
Seal Pups Release
Krampus, Pacman, Tinsel, Noel and Donner completed their rehabilitation over the last few months and were released at Snettisham beach back into the sea where they belong on 18th May 2016.
Mivvi was also returned to the wild after being re-rescued in 11th April 2016. Seal release on 18th May 2016
Rainforest Ranger

Become a Rainforest Ranger and meet lots of new creatures!

Ever wanted to touch a snake, or how about holding a giant millipede? Well now you can! Come along and meet the new creepy crawly creatures, and hold them if you dare!

For those of you who have a phobia of Snakes (no photos on this website) don´t worry they are kept inside the "Rainforest Rangers" room.

When you arrive at the SEA LIFE Sanctuary, just ask the lovely staff at the front of house reception desk which areas to avoid within the centre, if you do not want to see the snakes, as there are also two other snakes within the centre. I can assure you there are safe routes, so you can relax and enjoy your visit. We know Children love Snakes but are fully aware that some adults do not!

If You Discover a
Seal Pup in the Wild!

If you should discover a seal pup that seems to be in distress, or is alone, what you do next could mean the difference between life and death for the animal.

DO keep your distance; DON´T attempt to handle the pup; DON´T attempt to put the pup in the sea; DON´T ignore the situation; DO tell the appropriate organisation.
Please call the
Sanctuary on
01485 533576.
The Animal Care Team are on call around the clock to race to the rescue of seal pups in trouble anywhere around the coast.

Back at the Sanctuary, pups receive expert veterinary care and are gradually weaned from a liquid diet to whole fish in the purpose built hospital.

Then it´s to the outdoor pools to gain weight and build strength and stamina ready to resume life in the wild.
