Otters belong to the animal family Mustelidae which also includes stoats, weasels, badgers and polecats.
There are as many as 19 different species and sub-species of otter ranging from the Asian Short - Clawed Otter to the much larger Brazilian Otter which can grow up to 2.5 metres in length (including it´s tail).
Although effective hunters on land, otters have adapted to hunting in water and are excellent swimmers. |
