Robbie
Species : Common (harbour) Seal

Date Admitted : 18th June 2011

Sex : Male

Found : Snettisham Beach

Robbie was found on the same day and location as another rescued pup named Lisa, the stormy weather was appearing to be too much for these little pups!

Staff getting very muddy for the rescue of Robbie! Robbie was found at Snettisham beach, and the tide was so far out the water could not be seen. Robbie was in the mud flats, therefore the staff got rather muddy when rescuing him!

Again Robbie needed our help because his mother was nowhere to be seen unfortunately, so we brought him into our hospital and started his course of precautionary treatments.
Robbie is approximately 6 days old, and his blood glucose level was a little bit low. The staff also found that he was a little bit snappy!

This is a positive sign in a wild seal, now the staff just have to fatten up Robbie to the required weight and then release him.
When Robbie gets back to our hospital, he has a well deserved bath!
Robbie takes an interest to the camera just after he arrives at our hospital Update : 28th June 2011 - Robbie started his "weaning" process today, where we start to get them used to eating whole herring alongside their multi-milk diet.
Update : 3rd July 2011 - Robbie is now eating only fish, and is now hand feeding! This is good progress for Robbie, as it shows he is really enjoying the fish.

The next stage for Robbie is to reach 15kg in weight so we can start his weaning onto feeding for himself.
