Resident Seals News Update for June 2007

Lorne and Gigha are taking the influx of new staff in their stride with Lorne using it as a great opportunity to take advantage of our new starters. As with Tom, competition between Kat and Lorne began almost immediately with him trying to out-compete her by growling as loud as possible and even splashing her through the feed. Always partial to the male staff, Gigha has fallen in love with Gareth and will go to the top pool at the feeds and will haul out so she can be fed by hand from her beau.

Much to the joy and somewhat concern of our staff, Gigha is in fact heavily pregnant and due to give birth at any moment! Although she is very good mother, the concern stems from the fact that she is considered quite old to be a mother although, naturally the displays (ALL STAFF!) are keeping a very close eye on her and tending to her every need, obviously what every pregnant female would want to happen! Excitement is growing amongst the team and visitors, so hopefully everything will go well and still will have her own beautiful pup to care for.

Our seal pool area is undergoing a refurbishment at the moment, both the pools have been relined and are looking fabulous and the gallery area is now being repainted and freshened up, all is looking good so far and by the time it is completed, Lorne and Gigha will have a lovely looking new home!
