This is Puffa´s pup which was born on 13th September 2008 and only a few minutes old when this photo was taken.
Sue Sayer for the Seal Research Trust said "I´m fairly sure that I heard the pup being born (it yowled!) and took the photos of
Puffa sniffing her pup seconds afterwards! That´s why the pup looks so wet and
bedraggled!"
Sadly very early the next morning when Sue returned, with Seal Research Trust volunteers to the observation point overlooking the seal colony; they found the pup was dead and suspected it may have been caught out by the high tides which we are currently having in Cornwall.
