Thomas was rescued on 13th August 2008

ThomasThomas, a common seal pup, was found on Donna Isle near Lochchgilphead. His approximate age on arrival was between 5-7 days old. He was brought to us by the SSPCA after he had been seen on his own for a few days on 13th August 2008. Unfortunately mothers can abandon their pups for many reasons and after monitoring Thomas for a while it was clear his mother wasn´t going to return. Thomas
Update: September 2008 - Thomas is taking herring well, however, he is still at the stage where fingers taste better than fish!

Update: October 2008 - Thomas is now taking whole herring and is becoming easier to feed. He is opening his mouth in anticipation but still doesn´t quite know how much he has to open it by! Once he is taking fish by hand Thomas can be moved to the weaning pool.

Update: January 2009 - Thomas is still in the hospital and is eating for himself so it won´t be long before he is moved to the outside pools to join Flora, Mary and Joanna for his final stages of rehabilitation and then release back into the wild.

Update: March 2009 - Thomas and Sean are still in the outdoor pools, both of whom are nearly ready for release just a bit more fattening up and away they go.
Thomas Update: April 2009 - These photos of Thomas were taken on 4th April 2009 in the outdoor pools.

Update: May 2009 - On 7th May 2009 Thomas along with Sean were released back into the wild close to Seil Island, a few miles off the Scottish west coast.
