Mouse
Mouse came to us from Craignure also on Mull unfortunately as a result of human interference. He arrived as a very healthy pup, approximately two days old and quiet as a church mouse. The Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust and the local police wildlife officer rescued him. He had a minor graze on his chin after being washed around on the rocks, but this has healed and doesn’t mar his good looks. He is feeding well on herring and will hopefully get to the weaning pool with Smidge soon.
UPDATE: November 2005 Mouse is still the most handsome pup and he knows it. He is always first in line for fish and will duck the other seals to make sure he keeps his place at the front of the queue. Mouse will hopefully be released back into the wild before Christmas 2005.
UPDATE: January 2006 Mouse is gaining weight well at last. He was fine out in the outdoor pools and was putting on weight gradually but he never seemed to get going. He was returned to the weaning pool for a beefing up period. He gained a couple of kilos quickly and then was put back outside with the adults. Since then hasn´t looked back and is now gaining weight well. He is absolutely smitten with Gigha and follows her around, we´re not too sure that the feeling is mutual, but Mouse is quite happy.
UPDATE: May 2006 Mouse was released back into the wild earlier this month to the joy of the Animal Care Team.
