| Joanna was rescued on 15th August 2008 | |
 | Joanna, a common seal pup, was found on the Point of Lismore. Her approximate age on arrival at the sanctuary was roughly 2 weeks old. She was brought to us on 15th August 2008 by a man from Appin after she had been seen on the Lismore slipway where some children had been seen throwing stones at her. The decision was made to bring her into the sanctuary for safety and rehabilitation. | |
| Although she has several wounds across her body, these are healing well and she is becoming more lively with every day. |
| Update: September 2008 - Joanna is taking herring well, however, she is still at the stage where fingers taste better than fish! Update: October 2008 - Joanna is now taking whole herring but still enjoys biting down on fingers. She knows to open her mouth but hasn't learned to KEEP it open. Once she is taking fish by hand she can be moved to the weaning pool with Thomas. Update: January 2009 - Joanna has been moved to the large pools outside with Mary and Flora for their final stages of rehabilitation and then release back into the wild. Update: 1st February 2009 - Joanne was released back into the wild along with Mary and Flora on 29th January 2009. |
