| Jamie (Murray) was rescued on 6th July 2007 | |
| Jamie arrived at the sanctuary on 6th of July 2007, he was found on the shores of Loch Creran just a few hundred yards from the sanctuary by a family that was out for a day trip. The family quickly alerted the sanctuary´s Animal Care Team and a member of staff went round to see what his condition was. After watching the area, it was clear that his mother was not coming back and so he was transported to the sanctuary´s isolation unit. | |
 | After examination it was found that Jamie was found to be approximately 5 days old. Luckily he was free from injuries although on arrival, he was underweight at 8.5kg. Within an hour the sanctuary had it´s second new arrival and they have been christened Jamie and Jelena in tribute to Scottish Wimbledon champion Jamie Murray and his doubles partner Jelena Jankovic. Jamie is definitely the most vocal of our three new arrivals and is progressing well. Jamie and Jelena´s Press Release |
| Hospital Update: 1st August 2007 - Jamie is definitely still the noisiest pup and almost sounds like he is possessed when he calls out. He has progressed on the weaning stage of the rehabilitation process, which involves force feeding herring to him. He is finding the herring to be quite difficult to cope with and is a bit of a nightmare to feed successfully managing to regurgitate full fish just when you think you have managed to get him to eat one! Jamie is also going for swims in the weaning pool, his first time out, he spent the whole fifteen minutes looking bewildered and trying to get back out again. He still looks a bit clumsy at the moment but we are confident that he will soon look as graceful as the two girls (Ellen and Jelena). |
| Hospital Update: September 2007 - Sadly Jamie has passed away during the night of 13th of August 2007. The loss was very sudden and shocking for the team as he was doing very well. A post mortem was carried out to determine the cause of death. It was found that he had problems digesting his food which lead to it becoming lodged in his windpipe causing him to choke. The team are very saddened by this loss but are also glad that we still have the two girls to look after. |
