Dusty - Arrived on 15th November 2004
Dusty - Photo taken by Heather Dusty is a local girl. She was discovered on the Lifeboat slipway in Oban Bay. She is a wee common seal pup who has great strength of character. When she arrived at the age of 3.5 months old, she had wounds on her rear flippers and puncture wounds all over her body, she also had a bad infection of lungworm that made her breathing difficult and had prevented her from being able to catch enough fish to sustain herself. She recovered from her injuries and she was progressing well.
However, cold weather hit us just before Christmas and this caused a set back in her rehabilitation. She had to return back to the nursery to receive emergency treatment for low blood sugar and a newly acquired infection. Within 24 hours she had rallied and is now recovered and ready to move outside (when there is space).
