![]() | Daniel (Craig), a grey seal pup, was brought to us by the SSPCA on 7th November 2008 after it had been picked up by members of staff at the local golf club in Machrahanish. The pup had been going for a wander along the main road and so for its safety they took back to the course. His approximate age on arrival was between 3 - 4 weeks old and weighed 11.4kg. This pup would have already left its mother as it now longer has its white coat; however, it is very skinny and has not been able to look after itself as it should weigh roughly 40kg by now. |

As Daniel would no longer have been on its mothers milk he has already started to get weaned on to fish and we are feeding him small slices of herring. Over the next few weeks the size of the slices will be increased until he takes whole herring and then he will be moved to the weaning pool area before being put outside prior to release.
Update: January 2009 - Daniel is still in the hospital and feeding himself, he will be moved outside to the pools shortly for his final stages of rehabilitation and then release back into the wild. Update: March 2009 - Daniel was released back into the wild on 5th March 2009 along with Ursula and Honor. |
