PUP SWIMS AGAINST TIDE!

"Calls from Scottish fishermen for a cull of wild seals did not stop the Scottish SEA LIFE Sanctuary increasing the wild population by ´one´ on 30th August 2001!"
This was part of the press release we sent out as Mara reached the stage, where like our rescued pups, we weigh them to make sure they are a decent weight and then tag them with one of our numbered tags, ready for their exciting move into the wild.
Mara was helped into one of our cages, and taken to a seal release site south of Oban. We carried her down to the shore, and the cage door was lifted. Mara slowly made her way into the water and began to explore the seaweed in the shallows for over half an hour. As she became more confident, she swam further and further away, and then with a splash, zoomed off into the distance.
