The Animal Care Team thought the 2025/26 rescue pups season was over...but what a sweetest surprise!...Meet Tiramisu, the newest patient in the Sanctuary´s hospital!
Tiramisu was rescued from Kynance Cove on the 20th of June 2026 after being monitored closely for a few days by the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) marine mammal medic volunteers and not moving on.
One of the BDMLR area coordinators asked if the Sanctuary´s team could assess the pup on the beach. Beth and Clare, part of the animal care specialists team, along with Sean and Kobi, were despatched to Kynance Cove. They found the pup exhausted and dehydrated. Beth said "the pup had wounds on her back flippers, mouth and a high worm burden which was making her snotty and difficult to breath and had likely not eaten properly for a while. She was around 10 months old and weighed just 24.5kg (she should be much bigger than this at her age)."
Update - 24th June 2026 : The team are taking very good care of Tiramisu and was prescribed a course of medication by the vets to help her heal and must have lots of rest. Tiramisu's are being cleaned twice daily. For the first 24 hours of being in the hospital, she was given fluids to rehydrate before carefully starting to be re-introduced to fish.
Update - 4th July 2026 : Tiramisu was moved down to the outside pools for her next stage of rehabilitation on the 1st of July 2026. This means she is on the road to recovery and also has a deeper pool to swim in. She currently weighs 19kg.

The Cornish Seal Sanctuary couldn´t do their work without you. Every year, we rescue seal pups in need of care from around the coastline. From wounds to entanglement to malnourishment; there are lots of reasons why seal pups might need rescuing.
Seal pups cost on average £2,000 - £3,000 to go through rehabilitation - and this doesn´t include those that require special care.
