On the 27th of February 2008, after a final weight check, it was decided the time had come for Jenga, along with other rescued seal pups, Digory, Fenna, Nessa, Pasco and Scrabble, to be returned to the wild.
The pups were transferred from the pool into the back of the Sanctuary´s seal release trailer and then safely transported to their release location.
There was lots of excitement as the Sanctuary´s release vehicle made the journey to the beach, with all the seals trying to get the best view of the countryside in the trailer.
On the beach the ramp was let down and Nessa was first out followed by Jenga, Fenna and Scrabble.
Pasco and Digory were a little reluctant to do so and refused to get out the trailer. Digory with a little encouragement followed the others and Pasco preferred to hang back and do it himself. In the end the Animal Care Team had to use a little encouragement with the herd boards until the final got their flippers wet.
The Cornish Seal Sanctuary tries to release pups back to a beach on the coast that they were rescued from.
