The common seal pup was found distressed on a beach in Cromer by marine mammal medics volunteers from the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) on the 11th of August 2025. The BDMLR medics rescued and took her to seal hospital at SEA LIFE Hunstanton for care and rehabilitation. She was very dehydrated, lethargic and had a heavy burden of worms.
Laika spent a month in the Sanctuary´s hospital before being moved to the outside pool to continue her rehabilitation. This means Laika is on the road to recovery and also has a deeper pool to swim in and get ready to be released into the wild.
She was released back into the wild on the 3rd of October 2025 on the beach in front of Hunstanton SEA LIFE. Her release weight was 26kgs.
Each pup can cost up to £5,000 to rescue, rehabilitate and release, if you would like to sponsor the seal pups during their rehabilitation at Hunstanton SEA LIFE, please Click here for more details.
