Interesting Facts about Penguins


Humboldt Penguins (Spheniscus humboldti) build nests in burrows in the ground.

The eggs are incubated for 42 days with both parents taking care of them. They continue to share the care of the chicks for the next 12 weeks.

All the Humboldt Penguins are captive born and bred at the SEA LIFE Centres.

They are part of a global breeding programme which aims to safeguard the future of wild populations and contribute to the research being done into the reproductive biology and life history of this fascinating species.
