Fluffy was born to Humboldt penguins Charlie and Jerome on 3rd May 2017.
The Animal Care Team could not find out if the baby penguin, which weighed just 92 grams when it was born, was a boy or a girl until it was 3 months old. The sex of a baby Humboldt penguin is determined by means of a DNA test but you have to wait before such a test can be carried out.
Two popular suggestion amongst the team for a name were "Fluffy McFluffyface" and baby "Pip", which could be changed to "Pippa" if the penguin was a girl, in honour of Pippa Middleton´s marriage to James Matthews on 20th May 2017.
Before a decision could be made, the BBC sent a team to meet the baby penguin and at the moment "Fluffy McFluffyface" is still his name!

As you can see McFluffyface is growing into a very handsome Humboldt penguin.
This photo of McFluffyface was taken at Great YarmouthSEA LIFE on 10th March 2018 whilst the penguin enclosure is being refurbished at Hunstanton SEA LIFE. The new improved enclosure called Penguin Beach opened at Easter 2018.
Update : April 2019 - Fluffy along with Beaker, Indigo, Luna, Mahogany, Pip, Pumpkin and Tommy, have been moved to a temporary home at Blankenberge Sea Life park in Belgium until their permanent home at the Sea Life Centre Porto, Portugal, is ready in a couple months´ time.
