Empanada, a female seal pup, was rescued on 8th September 2020 from West Cornwall by members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) marine mammal medics and the Cornwall Seal Group Research Trust (CSGRT). Empanada had been being spotted without her mum and looked incredibly hungry as she had begun to approach other adult seals and suckle rocks.

After being monitored for 48 hours by the Cornwall Seal Group Research Trust volunteers in the hope that her mum would return, and also receiving a few bites from other seals on the beach, the decision was made to lift Empanada to safety by BDMLR.
