Brie was rescued on 30th July 2022
Brie was rescued on 30th July 2022 from Holme beach after being found alone, dehydrated and clearly unwell due to the large amount of swelling on her face.

She was lifted by British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) medics and taken to Coastal vets for an assessment where it was found that she had lesions inside her mouth. This is not uncommon at the end of the common seal pupping season to find and sadly can often end the lives of several pups, however, hopefully Brie has been lucky enough to have been found early on in her illness and stands a good chance of being successfully rehabilitated.

We estimate Brie to be at least a month old, so she is the oldest seal that the animal care team have rescued so far this season.

Update - 21st October 2022 : It is always a good day when the Animal Care Team return the rescued seal pups back to the wild where they belong, but at the same time it is a bit emotional saying goodbye after being with them for three months or more. Brie along with Wensleydale, Applewood, Blue Cheese and Camembert, were released back into the wild on 19th October 2022.
