Athena is the first rescued grey seal pup of this year (2015). She was reported to the Animal Care Team by a member of the general public who were concerned for her health.
Nats and Nathan, members of the Animal Care Team, went to Mundesley beach to check on the pup, on closer inspection it was clear that this seal needed medical help.

The Animal Care Team noticed that she had a few small wounds to her rear flippers, but more importantly they suspected she had lung worm which would need treatment.
Upon arrival at the seal rescue hospital, it was confirmed she had a case of lungworm, Athena also had a few superficial wounds all over her body, but other than that she is in good health.

Athena is currently receiving medication for her problems and she has already decided to feed for herself which is great news!
The Animal Care Team are confident that she will make a quick recovery and will soon find herself back in the wild with a clean bill of health.
