Leaf cutting Ants (Acromyrmex octospinosus) are extremely strong insects as we are able to carry items more than 50 times our own weight. That´s like a human adult carry a medium sized van.
Habitat is becoming more threatened with increased logging and clearing for farm land. This nest was rescued from farmland, where the farmer agreed not to use pesticide to destroy us but rather gave permission for our nest to be dug up and brought back to the UK.
