Black Pacu (Colossoma macropomum) live in river channels and flood plains in the Amazon Basin and Rio Orinoco in South America. They prefer slow-moving areas with lots of overhanging and floating vegetation.
These fish are part of the piranha family and juveniles will often swim with a shoal of piranha for protection.
