Angus was rescued on 26th November 2025

Meet Angus, an 8-10 weeks old male grey seal pup, who was rescued from Porthgwarra by the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) marine mammal medic volunteers. He was found with some infected wounds and a high temperature. Rescued weight 18.6kg.
Porthgwarra is a beautiful location but tricky to get to involving narrow overgrown lanes and a farmyard!

Update - 11th December 2025 : After some much needed rest and care at the BDMLR´s seal hospital, Angus was moved to the Seal Sanctuary at Gweek on the 9th of December 2025 to continue his rehabilitation.
Angus has now finished all of his antibiotics and is just restng and letting his wounds fully heal up before the animal care team move him down to the outside pools to continue his rehabilitation.

Update - 16th December 2025 : Angus was moved down to the outside nursery pool number 2 for his next stage of rehabilitation. This means he is on the road to recovery and also has a deeper pool to swim in.
He is sharing this nursery pool with another rescued seal pup named Marshmallow, they are doing very well and learning how to compete for fish which are all vital skills they will need when they are released back out into the wild. Angus will be weighed every few days to check his weight.

Update - 26th December 2025 : Angus is now in the rehab pool and currently weighs 23.6kg.

Update - 16th January 2026 : Angus continues to put weight on and it will not be too long before he is released back into the sea.

| Update : Angus along with Sundae, Abeona and Mousse Pie and have completed their rehabilitation and reached their ideal release weight of 30kg+. They were released back into the wild at a quiet beach on the Lizard Peninsula on the 19th of January 2026.
