The pup had been monitored all day by a fishing boat off shore, who then called to say mum had never returned, so they decided to rescue the seal onto their boat and were coming into dock in King´s Lynn.
As this was the fourth pup to be rescued on 25th June 2013 and the Animal Care Team was busy with the other three rescued pups from that day, the Sanctuary´s Manager Nigel had to clear out his car and rush off to meet pick up the pup.
The little girl that came off the boat was only 8.2kgs and at 4 days old was massively underweight and was also dehydrated! Nigel rushed her back to site where the team checked her in and put her on a special drip to boost her hydration and make her feel better. The pup has been named Flash Gordon.

Update: 30th June 2013 -
Flash Gordon started hand feeding of fish and she´s put on over a kilo! Now she´s hand feeding she should put on that much needed weight!
Update: 18th July 2013 - It has been a hard couple of weeks as a viral infection has broken out in the seal hospital. Despite multiple treatments and lots of tests, swabs, veterinary examinations and around the clock care by the Animal Care Team of Flash Gordon, sadly this pup did not make it.
It is always very sad when one of the rescued pups dies but sometimes these little ones just don´t have enough antibodies and strength in them to pull through, despite the best efforts of all the staff at Hunstanton SEA LIFE Sanctuary.
