Defoe came into the hospital dehydrated with some injuries to his head and mouth.

| On arrival, he weighed 16kg. The Animal Care Team cleaned up his wounds and gave him multivitamins to help his cuts get better. They had to be careful though, he was very rowdy!
Update: 11th September 2010 - Defoe has already started eating whole fish by himself! He is responding well to the vitamins and treatment.
Update: 15th September 2010 - Defoe was moved to the pup pool today, a much larger enclosure where he can swim around freely.
Update: 19th September 2010 - Defoe was joined by Cole in the pup pool today. They are both very active and healthy pups, and they will soon be put into our resident pool.
Update: 26th October 2010 - Defoe was moved into our resident pool with our adult seals: Sally, Amber and Tyne. Here he will get to know larger seals, compete for food and build the skills he needs to survive out in the wild.
Defoe's flipper tag number is 08 (blue).

 | Update: January 2011 - Defoe was released back into the wild on 27th November 2010 with pool-mates Beckham and Cole, at a beach not too far from where he was first found. He didn't waste any time going far out to sea, and only gave us one look back to say 'thank you'.
