| CRUSH - Arrived 30th July 2004
|
| Crush was found abandoned on a beach near Inverness and was transported to Fort William by volunteers for the SSPCA. After a quick switch of vehicle in a public car park, she carried on to the sanctuary. Crush was technically the last pup of the season and she arrived in to the nursery in some state. Her initial assessment presented a very skinny underweight pup (only 7.5kg). She was covered in many deep, infected puncture wounds. These were treated on a daily basis being washed out with disinfectant and was combined with a course of antibiotics. She remained quite ill for a long time and was often snappy because of the pain she was in. The animal care team were inclined to doubt how things would end up. She also developed an eye infection but this was quickly got under control.

| Amazingly within a week of ceasing all the drug treatments she was being given for her various health problems, she was eating fish and was moved to the weaning pool on the 14th of September 2004. She is now doing very well and was moved to the adult pools on the 6th of October 2004. As one of the fastest and most enthusiastic pups she gets a good share of the fish at feed times and is now a staggering 21kg.

| Crush is doing brilliantly outside. She has recovered well from her rough start in life, and there is no trace of the deep wounds she had sustained before she was brought in to the nursery. Her name has never really suited her, as she is a beautiful seal.
