Daredevil
Daredevil The Sanctuary received a call late in the afternoon of 22nd June 2013 from Stewart (who took the above photo), a member of the public, who found a seal pup in the rocks at Old Hunstanton Lighthouse.

The staff are very grateful to Stewart and his partner for staying with the pup until the team arrived, and then helping them by leading the team to where she was stuck in the rocks.
The pup was only 3 days old and the Animal Care Team believe that she was separated from her mum by the tide and then got trapped in the rocks. She seemed quite poorly when Hollie, Kirsty, Jo and Amy (members of the Animal Care Team) found her and her eyes were scratched by the rocks, so the team acted quickly and rescued the pup and took her back to the seal hospital!

She has been given a thorough check-over and the rehabilitation process began to heal her eyes and fatten her up as she only weighed 10.9kgs.
Daredevil
Daredevil The Animal Care Team is working very hard to fatten her up and rehydrate her so that she has the best chance of recovery. The team currently have her on a drip to give her fluids so that she feels better and they are using medication to heal her eyes.

This pup has been named Daredevil.

Update: 18th July 2013 - It has been a hard couple of weeks as a viral infection has broken out in the seal hospital. Despite multiple treatments and lots of tests, swabs, veterinary examinations and around the clock care by the Animal Care Team of Daredevil, sadly this pup did not make it.

It is always very sad when one of the rescued pups dies but sometimes these little ones just don't have enough antibodies and strength in them to pull through, despite the best efforts of all the staff at Hunstanton SEA LIFE Sanctuary.

Each pup can cost up to £5,000 to rescue, rehabilitate and release, if you would like to adopt a pup or make a donation towards a pup´s rehabilitation at Hunstanton SEA LIFE Sanctuary,
