WEY - Rescued on 17th May 2005

Wey, rescued seal pup - photo was taken on 23/09/2005 by Joyce WilliamsWey, a grey seal pup was rescued from Tintagel on the 17th of May 2005. She weighed 18.5kg on arrival at the sanctuary and was about 8 –10 weeks old. She has broken teeth, a broken digit in her flipper and puncture wounds to her body. She is quite an aggressive little pup despite all her injuries.
Dan Jarvis from the BDMLR has very kindly provided a report on the rescue, click here to read it.

Update: 16th October 2005 - On the 14th of October 2005, the Sanctuary said goodbye to Bianca and Wey. Due to the good weather, it was decided that they would be released at Port Gaverne, Near Port Issac in North Cornwall.
Wey - photo was taken by Rachael VineWey, wearing yellow hat tag number 58, spent most of her time looking around at what was going on, and Bianca slept until we arrived just outside Port Issac. She woke up after smelling the sea. After getting the trailer on the beach and opening the door, they were gone. There was no looking back for either Wey or Bianca as they headed out to deeper water.

Update: 5th February 2006 - On 5th February 2006 Sue Sayer of the Cornwall Seal Group couldn´t believe it.....three Sanctuary Seals on Mutton Cove and right next to each other!
Wey, Brant and Neil - photo was taken by Sue SayerWey (Rear right pink 043), Brant (rear left pink 032) and Neil (Rear left white 007). Wey and Brant were sleeping next to each other all the time Sue Sayer was there. Neil spent most of the time playing with another juvenile seal at the water's edge, but later he hauled all round the edge of the haul out and finally selected a spot to rest - right next to Wey and Brant!!! Coincidence or what????
This photo of Wey, Brant and Neil was taken by Sue Sayer who has a great website at   www.cornwallsealgroup.co.uk
