| TAZ - Rescued on 9th December 2006 |
| On Saturday the 9th of December 2006 the Sanctuary received a call about a pup at Newquay. We sent a member of the team off to Newquay and they found the pup on the beach. This pup had lots of wounds and its eye was closed. |
| The pup was put into a cage and brought back to the Sanctuary. The pup was put into isolation and was given a clinical assessment. This pup weighed 19 kilos and was around 8 weeks old. The pup also had a graze to its chin, an ulcer to its eye and lots of puncture wounds to body. The pup has been put onto a course of antibiotics and eye drop. The pup is a little boy and has been named Taz. | ![]() |

Update: 31st December 2006 - These photos of Taz were taken on Saturday 30th of December 2006 in the outside nursery pool. Hospital Update: 15th January 2007 - Taz is now in the convalescence pool. His orange flipper tag number is 23. | ![]() |

Update: 16th March 2007 - Taz was released back into the wild on the 12th of March 2007 along with Pebbles, Dory, Baloo and Lilo at Porthtowan. | ![]() |
![]() | Update: 23rd April 2007 - Taz was spotted at a local haul-out along the north coast of Cornwall by Sue Sayer on 22nd April 2007. (Sue is a member of the Cornwall Seal Group who identifies and monitors local seals). |
