STITCH - Rescued on 2nd December 2006

On Saturday the 2nd of December 2006 the Seal Sanctuary received a telephone call from members of the public about a seal that was on the beach at Gwithian. As the team were busy with the seals in the hospital and the residents, they called on a member of staff who was off that day and went to Gwithian to take a look at the seal. Upon arrival at the beach they found the pup, and a call back to the Sanctuary, with information on it's injuries, the decision was made to bring it back to Gweek.
Back at the Sanctuary the pup was put in to isolation 1. The pup was around 2½ weeks old and was mid moult, the pup was heavy at 27.5 kilos, and had a swollen front left flipper to the forth digit, and also had an abscess. The pup had a scratch to the right eye, and has been put on a course of eye drops and antibiotics. The pup is a little girl and has been named Stitch.Photo of Stitch was taken on 13th December 2006 by Rachael Vine
