Sahara will now be given a permanent home here at the National Seal Sanctuary, and now the race is on to raise £250,000 for his new pool. Sahara's pool will be specially designed to house an Arctic seal, and will hopefully have underwater viewing area and a temperature control for the water, so that if he gets too hot in the summer he can cool off in the nice Arctic waters. Sahara, when fully grown, will weigh around 350 kilos (the same size as Rocky, our Californian Sea lion) and 2.6 metres in length, so he will need a large deep pool.
