Sophie was rescued on 21st November 2008

Sophie was also rescued on the 21st November 2008 from Hayle and was actually brought in by a member of the public. This pup was around 6 weeks old and extremely malnourished and was near death by the time she arrived at the sanctuary. This pup was put on a drip and had round the clock attention and two bags of fluids, and in the morning Sophie was looking and feeling much better. She also had a wound to her front right flipper which was cleaned and treated and eye drops for her right eye, which is a little cloudy.

Update: 24th November 2008 - Sophie is still in isolation pen number 1 and is receiving glucose in her fish, she is having assistance with her pill fish but self feeding the rest of her feeds.

Update: 12th December 2008 - Sophie now weighs 15 kilos and has had a change of antibiotics for her front right flipper.
Sophie Update: 24th December 2008 - Sophie is self-feeding and now is in water, but is not using her front flipper, so it will be a possible trip to the vets after Christmas.

Update: 1st January 2009 - These photos of Sophie were taken on 27th December 2008 in the main hospital pen number 4.

Update: 10th January 2009 - Sophie has been to the vets this week to have an x-ray on her flipper, as she was not using it. The x-ray revealed that she had no broken bones in her flipper, but did have a sprain, she has now been moved out of the hospital and down to the nursery pools. Sophie's flipper tag number is 011 (red).

Update: 20th March 2009 - Sophie was released back into the wild early in the morning on 17th March 2009 along with Erin, Lauren and Holly.
