Severus Snape was rescued on 18th December 2009
The Sanctuary received a call on the 18th December 2009 about a pup at Salcombe in Devon. Due to its location we had to send out volunteers who found the pup on the beach, once again it was another pup suffering dehydration, the pup was quickly loaded and transferred to the Sanctuary.

In our SOS hospital we could start this pup on a course of fluids, which would help to stabilise its condition while we did a more in-depth clinical assessment. The pup was around 8 weeks old and only 14 kilos meaning this seal was also malnourished, it also had puncture wounds to it rear flippers, which were cleaned and treated. This pup is a little boy and been named Severus Snape.

Severus Snape Update: 19th May 2014 - Sue Sayer of the Cornwall Seal Group (CSG) received an email from Charles Hood recently.

Charles said he had been sorting through some of pictures which he had taken during a scuba diving trip on 9th August 2012 at Longships and came across a photo of a seal with a blue flipper tag number 24.
Sue Sayer, a seal identification expert, checked Charles´s photos and compared the seal´s coat patterns with the photos taken at the Seal Sanctuary.
Sue identified the seal as Severus Snape.

Charles said that the seal was very playful.
