Shrek was rescued on 3rd January 2015
Shrek, 10 weeks old male grey seal pup, was rescued from the beach at Pendeen on 3rd January 2015 by members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) team.

He weighed 19.5kgs and was found to have superficial wounds to his body.

Update - 23rd January 2015 : Shrek now weighs 22.5kgs and is eating his fish really well. He is currently in the outside nursery pools with another rescued seal pup named He-Mans for their next stage of rehabilitation.
Seal Release - 24th April 2015 Update - 31st March 2015 : Shrek is currently in the convalescent pool and putting on lots of weight. The photo above was taken in March 2015.

His flipper tag number is 069 (yellow).

Update - 26th April 2015 : Shrek was released back into the wild along with Odin, Hulk, Pepper, Emma Frost and Aquaman on 25th April 2015 at Gwithian.   Click here to see a selection of photos of the release by Tamara Cooper.
Update - 17th September 2017 : Shrek was seen on 29th May 2017 and 12th September 2017 by Anna of the Scilly Seal Snorkelling in the Isles of Scilly.

Shrek - photo by Sue Sayer Update - 9th April 2019 : Shrek was spotted at haul-outs along the coastline of Cornwall on 14th July 2016, 6th November 2017, 11th & 15th January 2018, 9th April 2018, 20th December 2018, 3rd January 2019 and 25th March 2019 by members of the Cornwall Seal Group Research Trust who identifies and monitors local seals.
