Sapphire arrived on 11th January 2012
Sapphire was rescued from Watergate Bay near Newquay on 19th November 2011 by members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) team, the pup taken to the RSPCA´s West Hatch Wildlife Centre for treatment.

The pup was transferred to the National Seal Sanctuary on 11th January 2012 for Sapphire´s next stage of rehabilitation, also to learn to compete for fish with other seals before finally being released back into the wild.
Sapphire´s flipper tag number is 80043 (orange).
