The new arrivals at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary
With the seal mating season in full swing it was only a matter of time before the Cornish Seal Sanctuary had some rescued grey Seal Pups to care for.

After receiving many calls over the last few weeks, the Cornwall Seal Group and British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) picked up some pups that did need a little extra care and attention.

Photo of Eclipse Three seal pups arrived at our Seal Hospital, Aurora (photo above), Mars and Eclipse (photo left) where our brilliant Animal Care Team started the long process of rehabilitation. Each Seal pup with a different story of its own.

Aurora our youngest pup had been abandoned, showed no signs of illness or injury but at only 3 days old being at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary will give Aurora a much better start than if she'd had to fend for herself in our Autumn waters.
For one of our male seal pups, Mars (photo right), it was a different story; when he arrived at the Seal Hospital he had puncture wounds and an eye injury and had to be given antibiotics.

For all the seal pups that come to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary, they may have different reasons for being there but one thing remains the same. And that´s the dedication and love they get from the Animal Care team.

This year the theme that was chosen was?...Space of course. And once the team meet the new arrivals, they have a pretty good idea which name belongs to which pup.

Take a look at Milkyway (photo left) for example!!
Make sure you don´t miss out on seeing what it is the Cornish Seal Sanctuary does and head to Gweek and have a peek at our Pups.

They expect, on average, to rehabilitate up to 60 seal pups each year but it´s not all year you can see the pups, it´s generally between September and February they need caring for.
