WHAT IS AN OTTER?

Otters belong to the animal family Mustelidae which also includes stoats, weasels, badgers and polecats.

There are as many as 19 different species and sub-species of otter ranging from the Asian Short - Clawed Otter to the much larger Brazilian Otter which can grow up to 2.5metres in length (including his tail).

Although effective hunters on land, otters have adapted to hunting in water and are excellent swimmers.
