Rescued Seal Pup

A premature common (harbour) seal pup, was rescued on 15th June 2014 from near Dunollie Castle in Oban, he was about 2 days old and weighed just 6kgs when he came in.
The pup was brought to the Sanctuary by the local vet who found him in a thin and weak state. Boo, rescued common seal pup
The photo above was taken on 12th August 2014 in the weaning pool, Boo was looking healthy and weighed 20kgs. Click here to watch a short film by Farrah Minchin of Boo being moved into the outside resident seals enclosure on 4th September 2014.

When this pup first arrived at the SEA LIFE Sanctuary, he used to call to the Animal Care Team all the time, and the noise he made was "BOO!" This is why his name is now Boo!

Celebrating 35th years
Sanctuary´s staff said "MASSIVE thanks you to all our amazing staff and visitors who helped celebrate our 35th birthday today. Especially to our special guest Mary who came to say a few words about our work and to officially start the celebrations. The weather may have broken, however, fun was had by all, closely followed by lots and lots yummy birthday cake. Heres to the next 35 years!"

Resident Seals

The resident seals, Lora, Macey and Pippa were loving the beautiful weather during July!
As you can see from the photo, the resident seals are sunbathing on their very own personal island in their pool. Lora, Macey and Pippa - Resident Seals

The cake was made from his favorite foods - fish and chicks - frozen in water. He was very kind enough to share his treat with Isla, his other otter friend!

We need your Help!

Earlier this year in June members of staff from UK SEA LIFE Centres took part in a 20 mile sponsored walk of the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, raising money for a brand new charity the "Sea Life Marine Conservation Trust", which is fundraising to kick start campaigns and other global actions on plastic pollution, whaling, MCZs, seahorses, turtles and sharks!
