Oates is a laid back young chap, he is quite happy just to chill out until feeding time.

OatesHe has just started the weaning process and is already hand feeding from the Animal Care Team.

Update: 1st July 2012 - Oates is now in the weaning pool with Daley, Dempster, Miley and Ogogo.

Update: 22nd July 2012 - Oates is still in the pup´s weaning pool with Dempsey and Ogogo. He is currently being taught how to catch his own fish by the animal care team and is enjoying the deep water in the pool. He like swimming upside down and will often wait at the door for the animal care team to feed him. He currently weighs 14.5 kilos.

Update: 31st July 2012 - Oates currently weighs 18kg and has also learned how to catch his own fish!! He now competes with Dempsey for the food and is helping teach Kate and Ogogo to feed themselves! Oates was very sorry to hear that Colin Oates hadn´t won a medal at this year´s Olympics but was very impressed with his performance and loved watching it in the hospital!! Oates will be outside in the resident pool with Dempsey and Daley very soon!
Update : 20th October 2012 - Oates along with Jessica-Jane, Ogogo and Sophie were released back into the wild on 16th October 2012 at Snettisham beach. Click here to see a selection of photos
