Tesla, is named after Nikola Tesla famous for his patents and theoretical work which formed the basis of the modern alternating current (AC) electric power systems and is Wayne Kempe´s hero.
Tesla was rescued from Rinsey on the 26th October 2011 by Clare McGowan, Wayne Kempe and Craig Hardman. This little boy with a very healthy weight of 26.5 kilos and must have been fed really well by Mum for a time, but was now not self feeding, so when found was hungry, dehydrated and exhausted.
Now in hospital pen number 3 Tesla is being force-fed by the animal care team but is being very good and we are expecting him to make a speedy recovery and a move onto the outside pools. He is very cute and the team have already fallen in love with him. "Fluffy and chunky just like Wayne" says Tamara!
Update: 23rd November 2011 - Tesla is now in the outside nursery pool 3 for his next stage of rehabilitation which will include introducing Tesla to other seals and teaching him how to feed and fend for himself.
Tesla´s flipper tag number is 11 (green).
Update: 1st January 2012 - Photo left of Tesla was taken in the convalescent pool on 28th December 2011. Click here to see further photos.
Update: 20th March 2012 - Tesla was released back into the wild at Gunwalloe on 16th March 2012 along Zappa and Malakite.
