Nigel rescued on 27th December 2010
The Sanctuary received a telephone call about a pup on the beach at Porthleven on 27th December 2010. Amy and one of our volunteers grabbed the seal rescue kit & cage and headed out in the landrover. On the beach they found a little pup with wounds and looking very malnourished. It was decided that the pup would need coming into the Sanctuary.

Back at the seal hospital the pup was weighed and found to be 14 kilos and around 8 week old very malnourished for a pup of this age, and also had bite wounds to the top of his head and both eyes were checked and stained but showed no sign of injury. This pup has been named Nigel.
Nigel Update: 8th February 2011 - Nigel has now been moved down to nursery pool No. 2 and currently weighs 19 kilos. His flipper tag number is 28 (white).

Update: 4th March 2011 - Nigel is now in the main pool after putting on 2 kilos in weight, but has the strangest looking fur as it seems orange and brown.

Update: 30th May 2011 - Nigel was released back into the wild at Church Cove on
13th May 2011.
