We have redecorated the seahorse tank in November 2009 and changed the colours of their plants from green to purple.

Species: Hippocampus abdominalis - big-bellied seahorses.

There are approximately 35 species of seahorse worldwide and 2 species which can be found around the British Isles. The largest species is the Australian Big-belly which can reach 32cm tall.

Amazing Fact: The male seahorse gives birth!!!
Depending on the species he may give birth to as many as 1,000 perfect miniature seahorses.
A seahorses dorsal fin can beat up to 70 times a second.
