News Update June 2014
Back

Due to severe flooding on 5th December 2013 the Hunstanton SEA LIFE Sanctuary is temporarily closed at the moment. Since then the Sanctuary´s team and the contractors have been working very long hours to get the Hunstanton SEA LIFE Sanctuary rebuilt, by the time it is finished, later in the year, they hope to have made it even better than it was before!
Update - 2nd June 2014
Hunstanton Sea Life Sanctuary has taken the best part of six months to dry out from the drenching it received as the waves crashed over the prom and into its ground floor.
The pirate adventure play area is beginning to look ship shape again!

Update - 5th June 2014
A message from the Manager Nigel Croasdale (photo right) "We are hoping the Sea Life Sanctuary would be ready to re-open for the October 2014 half term week - almost 11 months after the storm. Unfortunately we won´t be able to open in the summer because of the scale of the rebuild and the complexities of rebuilding an aquarium that has suffered three or four feet of water throughout the building. The glass in every tank has to be cut out and will require new silicone."

Update - 11th June 2014 - Seal Pup Rescued In High-Vis´ Jacket
Marine experts from flood-ravaged Hunstanton SEA LIFE Sanctuary broke off from re-build duties on 10th June 2014 to rescue a stranded seal pup.

The day-old female common seal pup was promptly christened "Galene" after the Greek Goddess of calm seas...which is also the project name for the Sanctuary re-build.

Update - 13th June 2014 - Urgent Request for Towels

Following the rescue of a seal pup on Tuesday, the Animal Care Team realised that they need some towels to store in their cars in case they are called out again, they are asking people who live in the area to see if they have any unwanted towels which they would like to donate, if so, could they please drop them in at the fencing gate near the entrance to the Hunstanton SEA LIFE Sanctuary.

Update - 24th June 2014

Things are progressing well at Hunstanton SEA LIFE Sanctuary now! Check out the amazing theming work going on in some of the tanks! There are still lots and lots of building work going on too!

The seal hospital is looking amazing but unfortunately this will not be open for this season for the rescued pups. The drains are just going in today but still got to waterproof the pens, and sort out the power and water.
