Marti Pellow was rescued on 1st November 2011
Having just left the beach at Strangles near Crackington Haven with a pup (Eva Peron) earlier that day, we received another call from the same beach about another pup, the plan was to meet members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) at Truro and take the pup off their hands so they could head back to the beach and see if the other seal needed our expert attention.

Marti Pellow The BDMLR and second pup arrived back at the Sanctuary at 6.30pm and we started its clinical assessment, weighing 26 kilos the pup was estimated to be between 7-10 days old in a good body condition with a bite wound to top of its head and one to its front right flipper.

This pup is named Marti Pellow, who happens to be the hero of Joyce Williams who has helped to run our website since it started in 1997.
Joyce said "I have been a fan of Mr Marti Pellow ever since I heard his first single with the group Wet Wet Wet, later he performed as a solo artist and is now a well-known musical actor appearing in shows including Witches of Eastwick, Chess, Chicago, Jekyll & Hyde and Blood Brothers."
Update: 23rd November 2011 - Marti Pellow is now in the outside nursery pool 2 for his next stage of rehabilitation which will include introducing him to other seals and teaching Marti how to feed and fend for himself.
Marti Pellow´s flipper tag number is 16 (green).
