Luna was rescued on 28th October 2009
The Sanctuary received a call from the Isles of Scilly about a possible pup that may need to come in to the Sanctuary on 28th October 2009.

With the advise given that the pup should be monitored to see if its mum would return. A few hours later the pup was picked up and put on a helicopter and making its way to the heliport at Penzance.

Tamara met the pup off the helicopter and gave it a quick clinical assessment and fluids before the journey back to the Sanctuary.

Luna Back at Gweek the one week old pup was put into isolation number 2 and given a full clinical assessment by our expert team. The pup was weighed and found to be 13 kilos but with no injuries. This pup is doing well and receiving multi-milk.

The multi-milk mixture is specifically made up for such a young pup. The special milk forumula provides young pups with most of the nutrients they would normally get from their mother's milk.
Update: This photo of Luna was taken on 6th November 2009 in the isolation pen of the hospital.    Click here to see further photos.
Update: 8th November 2009 - As you can see from Luna's picture she is starting to moult her fluffy white coat and after a few more days will have completely moulted. She has recently come off multi-milk and has now moved on to fish soup, which she really does enjoy.

Luna’s personality is starting to come through now and apart from being a very bright and happy seal, she is also very nosey, but also likes to do a lot of wriggling when we try to tube feed her fish soup.
