| Lassie arrived on 24th June 2009 |
| Lassie, a female common seal, was rescued on 24th June 2009 from Heacham beach. She weighed 11kg upon arrival and was approximately 1-2 weeks old. She was found on her own with no sign of her mum. Lassie is quite a boisterous little seal, who doesn't like us to get too close, she tries to bite and scratch the animal care team when they take her temperature. |
|
![]() | Lassie has been weaned off milk but has not learnt how to feed on fish yet - we are still having to force feed her!! Hopefully within the next few weeks she will learn to feed for herself. |
| Update: 17th September 2009 - Lassie was moved out of the hospital and into the main pool on 2nd September 2009 - Now weighs over 20kg.
Update: 30th November 2009 - Lassie along with the other 2 rescued pups, Einstein and Flipper, are all fine and ready to be released back into the wild shortly. |
