The National Seal Sanctuary has rescued it´s first pup of the season, a staggering three months before expected!

The pup was brought to the Sanctuary after a member of the public spotted it alone on Porthtowan beach.

Dan, a member of the Sanctuary´s animal care team attended the scene with the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) where they provided essential medical assistance to the suspected two day old seal. "Seals usually start giving birth around the end of September, so it was startling to hear reports of a pup stranded on our shores," Dan said.
(Kate) Humble
Upon Humble´s arrival at the Sanctuary, each member of staff was invited to suggest a name for its newest resident, inspired by their childhood heroes. Jenny, the Animal Care Team´s newest recruit successfully suggested Humble, after her own hero Kate Humble from BBC2´s Springwatch.

Humble is now resting in the Sanctuary´s seal hospital where she is being treated and fed by the Animal Care Team.

Humble will now face a six month rehabilitation programme, where she will learn to hunt for fish, interact with other seals and progress with target training, led by the Sanctuary´s animal care team.
