Schmirtz was rescued on 1st January 2018
Schmirtz, 8 weeks old male seal pup, was rescued on 1st January 2018 from Boat Cove, Perranuthnoe by some members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) team.

This pup was found with minor wounds to his body and was underweight at 15kgs.

The pup was taken and treated at one of BDMLR´s holding facilities until a hospital pen became available a few days later at Gweek on 4th January 2018.

Update - 12th February 2018 : Since Schmirtz was moved to the nursery pools, he has had some nose discharge so the Animal Care Team are monitoring him.

Schirtz Update - 25th February 2018 : Luckily the respiratory infection has cleared so Schmirtz has been moved into the convalescent pool for his final stage of rehabilitation and to learn how to compete for fish during feeding time.

Update - 28th March 2018 : Schmirtz is currently in the convalescent pool.

Update - 29th April 2018 : Schmirtz along with Graham, Clowance, Gwynnvys, Wynwalloe, Miner, Pascoe and Osborne, were released back into the wild on 20th April 2018 at Porthtowan beach.
